This page explains, in plain terms, what's refundable at True Life Documentaries and what isn't. It works alongside our Terms of Service, which remains the full governing agreement.
Each episode is purchased individually, priced by length (Basic, Standard, or Premium), at either the standard rate or a discounted member rate for active members. An optional membership provides that discount and does not itself grant any episodes — it is a separate, recurring subscription.
Once an episode has been successfully produced and delivered to your account, that charge is final and non-refundable. This includes cases where you're unhappy with a creative choice the AI made. Instead, you can request a revision (see below) — to be upfront about it, a revision is not free and is not a discounted rate; it is priced the same as a new episode of that length, since it re-runs the full production process.
If a technical failure on our end prevents an episode from being produced at all — for example, a rendering failure we're unable to resolve — we will either fix the issue and deliver your episode, or refund that specific charge in full. We stand behind our technical delivery; we do not offer refunds for subjective creative disagreements once something has been successfully delivered.
If something about a delivered episode isn't right — the wrong footage was used, the pacing feels off, anything like that — you can request a revision rather than a refund. A revision re-runs the production process on that same episode and is priced the same as a new episode of that length, at your member or non-member rate. There is no limit on how many times you can revise an episode.
Membership is $30 per month or $300 per year and renews automatically each period until you cancel. Your card on file is charged after any membership credit on your account is used up, and we email you a reminder about 7 days before each charge. You can cancel at any time from your account dashboard, which stops future billing. Canceling does not refund any amount already paid for the current billing period — you retain the membership discount through the end of that period.
Credits purchased for your account balance are non-refundable once purchased, but they never expire and can be used toward any future episode or revision.
When you invite a guest to a group episode, you pay an add-on for that guest. This add-on is not refunded as money. If a guest never finishes their interview, we convert what you paid for that guest into credit on your account, which you can spend on anything, including a personal episode. If the guest never started their interview, the credit is added to your account right away. If they had already started, we review the request and let you know. The guest is then removed from the group episode and the film proceeds without them.
Credit we give you (for example a coupon code, a gift, or free membership months) has no cash value and cannot be refunded or exchanged for money. Membership credit pays membership fees only. Episode credit can be used toward any episode or revision. Neither kind expires.
If you believe you're owed a refund under this policy — most commonly, a technical failure that prevented delivery — contact us through the support form on our site or by emailing billing@truelifedocumentaries.com. Include your account email and, if applicable, which episode was affected. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
