True Life Documentaries ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Your recorded voice may be treated as biometric information under certain state laws, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. By recording an interview with Aria, you provide your explicit, informed consent to our collection and processing of your voice for the purposes described in this policy, including transcription and AI conversation processing. We do not create a cloned copy or voice model of your voice. We retain voice recordings and any data derived from them (such as transcripts) only as long as necessary to produce your episodes and provide the service, or until you delete them or request deletion, whichever comes first; upon a valid deletion request, we permanently delete your original recordings and the data derived from them. We do not use your voice or likeness to train AI models beyond what is necessary to produce your own episodes, and we do not license or sell your voice data to any third party for their own independent use.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your personal information, interview recordings, and uploaded materials. Payment processing is handled securely through our payment provider; we do not store your full payment card details on our own servers.
We do not sell your personal information. To actually produce your interviews and episodes, portions of your data are processed by trusted service providers, including AI companies that power Aria's conversation and transcription (such as OpenAI and Google), the AI voice service used for Aria's speech (ElevenLabs), the video editing and rendering service that assembles your episode (Shotstack), the service used to search and index your uploaded footage (Twelve Labs), our email delivery provider (Resend), our payment processor, the cloud services that host our application, database, and file storage (Railway and Supabase), and the live video service that powers group episodes and live games (Daily). Each of these providers only receives the data necessary to perform their specific function, and is not permitted to use it for their own independent purposes.
We use browser storage that is necessary for the service to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your preferences. We also use an optional analytics tool to understand how the site is used; it collects interaction data only if you choose to accept it in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. We do not use advertising cookies.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us. You can also permanently delete any of your episodes yourself, at any time, from your portal; this removes the episode's interview recording, transcript, and finished film from our systems, although copies held in routine backups may persist for a limited period until they are overwritten. Note that some information (such as billing records) may need to be retained for legal or accounting purposes even after a deletion request. If you are invited by a client to participate as a guest in someone else's documentary episode, you have the same rights over your own interview recording and any information collected from you, regardless of who invited you. Depending on where you live, including California and certain other states and countries, you may have additional rights, such as to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, and to correct or delete it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Our services are intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for or directly collect personal information from individuals under 18. We recognize that family stories shared during interviews may naturally reference children, including the interviewee's own children or grandchildren — this incidental mention within someone's own life story is different from us collecting information directly from a child, but we encourage anyone sharing such stories to be thoughtful about what they choose to include.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
Questions about this Privacy Policy can be directed to us through our contact form, by email at billing@truelifedocumentaries.com, or by phone at (781) 374-3177 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm PT).
